Many new believers will get caught up in things that they shouldn’t prioritize above their maturing in the faith. Everything has a place and time and as a new believer, now is the time to foster your relationship with Christ and connect yourself with a strong group of believers. The early church were tight nit communities. There are many different examples of what going down a rabbit hole looks like. Sometimes people get caught up in Eschatology (study of the End Times/Revelations). Another example is politics or conspiracy theories. Another prevalent rabbit hole that I see new believers fall into is using the Blue Letter Bible app to go into the original Greek and Hebrew when they are no where near that caliber of mental maturity to do so. Also a huge debate that you will eventually run into is the Calvinist and Arminiast debate.
Now please hear me out. I am not saying that studying these things is wrong or immoral or not virtuous. Like I said before, there is a time and place. These are merely examples of rabbit holes that you can get sucked down. As a new believer, you have to prioritize. You are just now learning to walk and talk. You have never used your eyes before. You are Born Again. You need to focus on your relationship with Christ and trust Him. He will guide you. He will let you know when you are ready. The Holy Spirit moves within you and when the time comes, He will show you what to do, where to go and what to say.
A rabbit hole can be defined as anything that consumes your mind and heart apart from that which you should be focusing on.
