Only God is Good

Mark 10:18

So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one isgood but One, that is, God…”

Argument:

• Jesus denied being God when he rebuked the rich young ruler, saying “Why do you call me good? No one is good—except God alone.”

Rebuttal:

• Jesus was not denying His deity. He was rather warning the young man to consider the implications of his careless appellation.
• The Bible teaches that Jesus is sinless (John 8:46; Heb. 4:14)
• Jesus challenged him to examine what he was really saying when he called Jesus “Good Master”
