Infallibility of Scripture

Definition

  • The word infallible means “incapable of error.”
  • If something is infallible, it is never wrong and thus absolutely trustworthy

Defense of Infallibility

  • Jesus said, “The Scripture cannot be broken” (John 10:35).
  • The Bible is imperishable (Matthew 5:17-18)
  • God affirmed through Isaiah, “My word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isa. 55:11; cf. Matt. 15:3-6; Matt. 4:4,7,10)
  • Paul speaks of God’s Word as “the oracles of God” (Rom. 3:2)
