Matt Slick on his website, carm.org defines prayer beautifully:

“Prayer is the practice of the presence of God.  It is the place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made.  Prayer is the place of admitting our need, of adopting humility, and claiming dependence upon God.  Prayer is the needful practice of the Christian.  Prayer is the exercise of faith and hope.  Prayer is the privilege of touching the heart of the Father through the Son of God, Jesus our Lord.”

You need to understand that Prayer is powerful. When you sacrifice your life and take on Christ, you now can have a personal relationship with the Lord. We were once separated by sin but now through Christ’s death and resurrection, our sin is washed away by His blood. We can have a one on one relationship with God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ. You need to be immersed in prayer. You are a child of God and He wants to be involved in everything.

What is prayer used for:

  1. Praising and Worshipping God

  2. Asking for what you need

  3. Protection from temptation and the enemy

  4. Asking for Forgiveness

  5. Answering questions

  6. Receiving wisdom and understanding

  7. Drawing near to the Lord

  8. Exercising your faith

So pray when it is convenient and inconvenient. There is never a bad time to pray.
