Growing up in the church, I remember always hearing, WWJD, What Would Jesus Do. People had that as stickers on their binders, on bracelets and necklaces, on purity rings, it was everywhere. It is a good saying and you should always be asking that. There is another question that many people don’t want to ask. It is a question that is completely opposite of WWJD, it’s what would the Devil want? Kind of a dark question but if you know that you should not be doing what the Devil would want, then knowing what he wants will help you to stay away from those bad decisions. I have seen many mature and immature Christians struggle with life choices because they were trying to figure out what Jesus would want them to do. Aside from telling them to pray earnestly about it, I asked them what would the Devil want? Sure enough, the answer became clear as day. Here is a condensed list of things the Devil wants:
  1. He wants you secluded… away from other believers who have the Holy Spirit.
  2. He wants you consumed with the things of this world.
  3. He wants you to be apathetic.
  4. He wants you to keep quiet.
  5. He wants you comfortable so as keep you in one spot.
  6. He wants you to be lukewarm.
  7. He wants you to know just enough about the Bible so as to have you think you don’t need to learn anymore.
  8. He wants you to think church is meeting at a specific building, at a specific date and time so that you can check it off your list.
  9. He wants you to be ignorant of the spiritual war at hand. The less you know, the better.
  10. He wants you going down rabbit holes.
  11. He wants you to lean on your own understanding.
  12. He wants you to be more concerned with how you look before man, rather than how you before God.
  13. He doesn’t want you to know just how powerful the Holy Spirit is.
  14. He doesn’t want you to be passionate.
  15. He doesn’t want you to be prepared to defend the faith.
This list can go on and on, just remember, the Devil doesn’t want you to have a close relationship with Jesus and he wants to keep you away from Scripture.
